New
Digital Software Delivers Significant Performance Improvements for
Hands-Free Voice Communications
Melville, New York, June 27, 2000 - Andrea Electronics Corporation
(AMEX: AND) announced today that it is introducing the DA-400 2.0,
incorporating its flagship Digital Super Directional Array (DSDA®)
microphone technology with new, high performance noise cancellation
software, at PC Expo 2000, taking place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center in New York on June 27-29. Andrea Electronics’ new software
system, incorporating newly introduced DSDA 2.0 and PureAudio software,
utilizes an adaptive beamforming technique and state-of-the art
de-reverberation process, enabling significantly enhanced speech
recognition performance in both noisy and quiet environments. In
addition, this new technology enables an improved range of operation,
allowing the user to interact with the device from distances of
up to four feet. Andrea Electronics’ DA-400 2.0 is available today
through the Company’s e-commerce call center and online at www.AndreaElectronics.com.
“DSDA
2.0 is an extremely sophisticated and robust noise-cancellation
solution developed to bring a new level of clarity to voice communication
applications,” said Joseph Marash, Chief Technology Officer of Andrea
Electronics Corporation. “Like its predecessor, DSDA 2.0 is embeddable
and capable of being customized for a wide range of applications,
so its superior noise cancellation capabilities can benefit not
only users of desktop speech communications, but also users of any
speech-enabled application ranging from an in-vehicle communication
system to an Internet appliance to a wireless mobile communication
device.”
Patented DSDA adaptive microphone technology enables the optimal
performance of headset-free, far-field voice input by centering
microphone sensitivity on the user’s voice and canceling noise outside
of that signal. DSDA version 2.0 utilizes a new de-reverberation
technique which dramatically reduces ambient noise caused when a
speaker’s voice reverberates from walls or ceilings, which has the
effect of confusing the audio input device. Combined with Andrea
Electronics’ PureAudio noise reduction algorithm, latency in the
recognition system shows marked improvement with significantly less
digital residual distortion when used with any speech-enabled application.
Together, this new system of software offers greater sensitivity
and a superior solution for clear voice recognition with untethered,
far-field voice communications.
At the show, Andrea Electronics is demonstrating its line of digital,
far-field microphone systems for in-vehicle and desktop computing,
as well as its latest series of Noise Cancellation (NC) PC headsets,
the NC-110, NC-115 and NC-105, which allow customers to mix and
match headset components, creating a customized, yet cost-effective
headset solution.
