Strengthens Existing Active Noise Reduction (ANR-Ready®) Portfolio
Melville, NY, August 28, 2000 – Andrea Electronics Corporation (AMEX:
AND), a leading developer of hardware and software technologies
that optimize the performance of speech-enabled applications and
other voice user interfaces, announced today that the U.S. Patent
and Trademark Office has issued the Company a patent (U.S. Patent
No. 6,061,456) directed to Andrea Electronics’ Active Noise Reduction
(ANR-Ready®) technology. This new patent, with broader claims than
preceding Andrea U.S. Patents Nos. 5,732,143 and 5,825,897, was
issued to Andrea Electronics over more than 200 cited prior art
references, further validating the significance of the Company’s
existing patented intellectual property covering its ANR-Ready system
and calibration methods. This newly issued patent, like other Andrea
patents, is available for licensing.
“For
years, Andrea Electronics has worked to develop active noise reduction
technologies that benefit and enhance the audio quality for both
commercial and consumer applications, such as aircraft in-flight
entertainment, portable audio devices and mobile communication devices,”
said Douglas J. Andrea, Co-Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer
of Andrea Electronics Corporation. “We are excited to continue expanding
upon our patent portfolio, further strengthening our intellectual
property protection.”
About ANR Technology
Andrea Electronics has a long history of providing state-of-the-art
intercommunication systems for the military and commercial avionics
industries. The Company’s ANR-Ready earphone technology provides
CD-quality, digital sound and offers a high level of intelligibility
in high noise environments. The Company’s broad patent claims cover
unique methods for independently calibrating ANR apparatus separately
from its electrical assembly, allowing Andrea Electronics to offer
interchangeable, high performance replacement earphones for use
in applications where the headset is independent of the electronics
control unit.
This patent, along with U.S. Patent No. 6,108,415, also announced
today, expands Andrea Electronics’ extensive patent portfolio of
state-of-the-art electroacoustic designs and technologies to 19
U.S. patents which focus on the enhancement of speech input and
communications.
