MELVILLE,
N.Y., March 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Andrea Electronics Corporation (Amex:
AND), a leading manufacturer of hardware and software technologies
that optimizes the performance of speech-enabled applications and
other voice user interfaces, announced today that the U.S Patent
and Trademark Office has issued the Company a patent (U.S. Patent
No. 6,178,248) with claims directed to its Digital Super Directional
Array (DSDA(R)) technology. The new patent gives Andrea the proprietary
ability to increase the bandwidth of the primary audio signal under
its existing DSDA patent, effectively improving the audio quality
of the signal without increasing the computation load and complexity
of the audio processing. In addition, the patent gives the Company
the ability to modify different frequency bands of the primary audio
signal under various processing techniques, thereby obtaining an
optimized solution over the entire frequency band.
"This
powerful patent allows us to offer our technologies to users requiring
a very high quality, cost-effective audio solution," said Joseph
Marash, Chief Technology Officer of Andrea Electronics Corporation.
"The ability to optimize the processing over the different frequency
bands, and the ability to offer a higher audio quality for the same
price, makes our technology appealing to audio users of advanced
speech recognition algorithms, professional microphones and more."
DSDA technology provides for the cancellation of background noise
and the transmission of a clear voice signal, even when the speaker
is at a distance from the microphone. It utilizes an array of microphones,
unique system design and DSP processing to adaptively control multiple
acoustic signals to achieve new levels of microphone performance
and hands-free operation of critical speech-centric computing.
