MELVILLE, NY, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Andrea Electronics Corporation
(Amex: AND) announced today that it is participating at the International
Motor Show Passenger Cars 2001, a global automotive conference hosted
by the Association of the German Auto Industry, taking place September
13 - 23 in Frankfurt, Germany. At the show, Andrea Electronics'
DA-310 AutoArray(TM), a digital far-field microphone system optimized
for use with in-vehicle applications, will be utilized in a Delphi
Automotive System's (NYSE: DPH) concept vehicle to demonstrate various
voice-activated applications.
Andrea Electronics's array technology will be demonstrated in a
Delphi Automotive Systems Concept car at Stand A04, Hall 5.1. Delphi
Automotive Systems will be featuring the latest in automotive telematics
applications, including its COMMUNIPORT(R) Mobile Multimedia Systems.
Andrea's DA-310 AutoArray(TM) microphone will be used to demonstrate
command and control and voice-activated cellular phone functions
for the COMMUNIPORT(R)(R) system.
"We
are excited that the Andrea DA-310 AutoArray has been selected by
Delphi for use in its concept vehicle at this prestigious auto show
in Frankfurt," said Christopher P. Sauvigne, Chief Executive Officer
of Andrea Electronics Corporation. "Delphi's decision to use Andrea
Electronics' technology demonstrates continued validation that our
digital array enables a natural language voice user interface, even
in a noisy communication environment such as in-vehicle computing."
Andrea Electronics' noise-canceling digital microphone array technologies
enable the optimal performance of telematics applications by overcoming
the high-noise environment of a moving automobile. Microphones utilized
for in-vehicle applications must be capable of not only focusing
on and enhancing the user's voice, but also eliminating background
noise from multiple sources, including wind, radio, engines, the
road and other passengers. Through the incorporation of highly scaleable
and embeddable patented software algorithms and a multiple microphone
design, Andrea's array technology is capable of focusing microphone
sensitivity on the user's voice while electronically eliminating
noise from all other sources, transmitting only the clear voice
signal to the telematics system.
