Ford Selects Andrea Electronics' Microphone Array for Inclusion in Demonstration Vehicle at the North American International Auto Show 2003

Melville, New York, January 10, 2003- Andrea Electronics Corporation (Amex: AND ) announced today that it is participating in the North American International Auto Show 2003 (NAIAS 2003), a global automotive conference, taking place January 11-20 at the Cobo Center in Dearborn, Michigan. At the show, Andrea Electronics' far-field microphone system, optimized for use with in-vehicle communication applications, will be utilized in a Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F ) vehicle to demonstrate various voice-activated applications.

Andrea Electronics' array microphone will be displayed in the Ford Model U concept SUV, which can be found in the Blue Oval Section at the Cobo Center. The Ford Model U showcases the most advanced conversational speech technology displayed to date, allowing a person to speak naturally to operate on-board systems including entertainment, navigation, cellular telephone and climate control applications. Andrea Electronics' high-performance DA-310 microphone array enables the optimal performance of such voice-activated applications by overcoming the high-noise environment of a moving automobile.

"By enabling hands-free, headset free communication in automotive environments, we are responding to consumers' desire for clear voice signals while simultaneously providing convenience and continuously improved safety," said Christopher P. Sauvigne, President and Chief Executive Officer of Andrea Electronics Corporation. "We are proud of the recognition our microphone technology has received from automotive leaders such as Ford, and we look forward to continued success in the telematics market."

Microphones utilized for in-vehicle applications must be capable of not only focusing on and enhancing the user's voice, but eliminating background noise from multiple sources, including wind, radio, engines, the road and other passengers. Through the incorporation of highly scaleable and embeddable patented software algorithms and a multiple microphone design, Andrea's newly redesigned DA-310 AutoArray® is capable of focusing microphone sensitivity on the user's voice while digitally eliminating ambient noise from all other sources, transmitting only the clear voice signal to the telematics system.
