Call Center & Phone Products - Headsets

People tell me my volume is too high or too low, what do I do?
For best results you need to adjust the telephone amplifier outgoing volume. This should be checked whenever replacing headsets.
  • When used with the Andrea CA-910, outgoing volume is adjusted by rotating the volume control on the right side of the amplifier. Rotate clockwise to increase and counterclockwise to decrease. The screwdriver attached to the bottom can be used for this adjustment.
  • When used with a Plantronics® M12 or M10, outgoing volume is adjusted by removing the panel on the left hand side of the amplifier and rotating the volume control clockwise to increase and counterclockwise to decrease. The screwdriver attached to the bottom can be used for this adjustment. See your M12 / M10 users guide for additional details.
What microphone technology is used in these products?
Do the CS900 / CS950 utilize an NC microphone?
How much background noise will be eliminated?
  • Both the CS900 and CS950 use Andreas most advanced Noise Canceling (NC) technology. This technology rejects sounds away from the speaker making your voice clearer to whomever you are speaking.
  • The NC technology reduces noise about 4 dB/octave.
What is the difference between the CS 900 and CS 950? Is there sound in both ears of the CS950 binaural?
  • The CS900 has a single speaker, allowing you to hear easily what is going on around you.
  • The CS950 has two speakers. Covering both ears will make it easier to hear in noisy areas. Since the sound is the same from both speakers it is not a "stereo" headset, but instead is referred to as a "binaural" headset.
With what telephone amplifiers are these headsets compatible?
We are fully compatible with the Andrea CA-910 Amplifier, and with the Plantronics® M12 or M10 amplifiers.

Is the CS900 or CS910 compatible with the Plantronics® T10 Amplifier?
No, we are not compatible with the T10. The internal wiring of the M10 and the T10 are different.

What is the correct placement of the boom microphone?
  1. The white dot on the mic tip should be pointing toward your mouth.
  2. The mic should be slightly off to one side of your mouth and one to two fingers width away from your mouth.
  3. Once your amplifier gain is set, for consistent results always adjust the microphone to the same location relative to you mouth. As with any headset microphone, small changes in distance result in large changes in volume.
People complain I don't sound right or that I sound distorted, what can I do?
  1. Check that the microphone is placed correctly. The Noise Canceling microphone rejects sound from the side and back, so if the white dot is not placed correctly you may be partially canceling your voice and result in distorted output.
  2. Check the telephone amplifier gain setting; it may be set too high.
Why is there a foam piece on the end of the CS900/CS950 microphone boom? I didn't have one on my old headset.
The foam piece is called a "windsock". Its purpose is to reduce "wind noise". When speaking consonants like "p", the breath of air can be picked up by the microphone and heard by the person on the other end of the phone. Some manufacturers use internal windsocks, but they are generally less effective than the external windsock as used on Andrea products.

Does it matter if the mic boom is attached to the left or right ear?
No, rotate the boom up and over to switch to the other side at your preference.

I notice the quick disconnect has a standard 2.5 mm plug. Can I use this with a cell phone with a 2.5 mm jack?
The CS900 and CS950 were not designed for use with cell phones. We do not recommend connecting to a cell phone as damage to the headset or cell phone may result.

How much do the units weigh? Both the monaural and binaural?
  • The CS900 monaural headset weight is: 5.6 oz.
  • The CS950 binaural headset weight is: 6.4 oz.
How many hours can I expect the headset to perform prior to component malfunction?
The CS900 and CS950 headsets have a 2-year warranty.

Do the headsets have a tone adjustment like the Plantronics Encore®?
Can I adjust the bass or treble?
The CS900 and CS950 do not have tone controls on the headset. However, when used with the CA-910, which has an electronic tone control, you may adjust the tone. (The Plantronics Encore tone control is acoustic and does not have the range of an electronic tone control like that on the CA910).

What is the length of the headset cord?
The cord length is 6' relaxed, and 15" fully extended.

What size speakers are used?
The CS900 / CS950 use 40 mm diameter speakers.

Can I buy replacement parts, i.e. windsock, ear cushions, clothes clip?
A replacement parts kit is available. If you are interested in this contact a sales representative.

Do you offer refurbished headsets?
No, Andrea does not offer refurbished headsets.

Why doesn't my microphone work?
Check the headset is correctly plugged into the amplifier box and that the amplifier box is correctly set for the phone you are using. In addition insure the microphone gain is set correctly.

Why do I need an amplifier to use my headset?
The amplifier box matches the headset signal levels to those needed by the phone you connect to. Since manufacturers vary phone connections and signal levels, the amplifier compensates for these differences.

What materials are the ear cushion/windsock made out of?
The ear cushion and windsock are made of foam.

Can an Andrea call center headset adversely affect my hearing?
Any headset at too high a volume level can damage hearing. Always keep the headset volume as low as possible. When used with the CA-910, the Automatic gain control will keep volume levels constant, preventing surprise volume changes.

What is the dB level output for the headsets?
What are the sensitivity and impedance levels of the microphone?

The product spec sheets have the technical details on the product. To find the spec sheets, please visit the specific product's page.

Can the microphone portion of the headset by replaced/upgraded?
No, the microphone is not replaceable/upgradeable.

Do you sell an adapter to plug two headsets into the same amp box?
No, not at this time. If there is enough interest in this product, we may consider it.

Where do I find the product serial/manufacturing ID?
It is on the mic tip, under the windsock.

How can I eliminate interference from a radio or cell phone?
Reposition the headset or move the cell phone further away to reduce interference.

Is there a way to send the entire audio stream to only one ear using the binaural version?
No.
