An Overview of our technology
We are committed to new development innovation and the continuous improvement of our technologies, for creating exiting new products in our field of expertise. As a result of the convergence between computers and communication devices, a new generation of connected mobile devices are becoming pervasive. Today Andrea is developing new products incorporating our patented technologies to enhance the user experience of mainstream applications such as; speech recognition, VoIP/video conferencing, distance learning, enterprise collaboration, game chat and live digital audio recordings. We strive to deliver a user interface that is superior in audio quality and ease of use. Below are a number of Andrea’s strategic technologies that are enhancing our audio accessory products and are increasing the enjoyment of our customers use with today’s new multimedia computing devices.

DSDA 2.0

Digital Super Directional Array (DSDA®) 2.0
A patented system approach of array microphone adaptive beam forming, the digital technology enables optimal performance of far-field voice input by centering microphone sensitivity on the user’s voice and canceling noise outside of the pick-up cone. DSDA utilizes our unique de-reverberation technique which dramatically reduces reflections caused when a speaker’s voice reverberates from walls or ceilings, which has the effect of sounding hollow in traditional audio input devices. The combination of DSDA adaptive beam forming and PureAudio noise reduction provide a complete solution for enhancing far-field microphone pickup and clarity in a wide variety of user applications in noisy environments.

PURE AUDIO 2.0

PureAudio® 2.0
An award winning digital noise canceling algorithm, PureAudio is designed to and attenuate ambient and electronic repetitive noises from the desired speech signal, improving the signal-to-noise ratio. As a result, noises such as computer fans, projectors, air conditioning and even ambient background din sounds are removed from the audio stream, delivering a “Pure Audio” output signal. The quality of computer VoIP communications intelligibility is improved and with significantly less residual distortion when used in even extremely loud environments.

NC

3D Surround Sound Recording
A new unique innovative feature, stereo recording with the SuperBeam headset enables lifelike 3D surround sound capture of the users listening environment. Due to the stereo microphones “Binaural” placement near the user’s ears, creates a natural head acoustic transfer function. Sound arriving at each microphone in different phase will duplicate the real ear listening experience. Audio playback of these recordings will then deliver a realistic sound reproduction experience, great for recording live audio events. With Andrea SuperBeam headsets, you now have a portable recording studio right on your head, with the ability to create hi fidelity 3D surround sound recordings anywhere.

Earphone Bass Expansion
Andrea employs powerful neodymium magnets in our speaker transducers that deliver a frequency response of 20Hz - 20KHz. SuperBeam headsets also feature a unique bass-reflex ported earphone housing design for producing deep rich bass, complementing transducer output efficiency of clear midrange and sparking highs.

ECHO STOP

EchoStop™
An advanced full duplex acoustic echo cancelling algorithm, EchoStop was developed to also be incorporated with DSADA and PureAudio microphone technologies for a complete audio input and output solution. Designed for use with VoIP communication software, digital speakerphones, videoconferencing systems and cellular phones, Echostop also eliminates distortion caused by reverberation within the conferencing environment and possesses noise reduction capabilities to diminish background noise. EchoStop provides superior voice input for uncompromised far-field communications audio quality.

ANC

Active Noise Cancellation Boom Microphone
Our patented close talking Active Noise Cancelation (ANC) boom microphone utilizes dual microphone elements for better modeling of the ambient sound field and provides superior high frequency cancelation over standard pressure gradient type microphones. The ANC microphone technology is featured in our high end headsets and is recommended for speech recognition systems used in noisy environments.

ANR

Active Noise Reduction Earphone
Our patented Active Noise Reduction (ANR) earphone technology provides a low frequency noise reduction enhancement to standard passive attenuation ear cup headphone systems. The ANR circuitry utilizes a small microphone to monitor residual low frequency noise inside the ear cup and then inverts the sensed sound waves into an “anti-noise” signal. The speaker driver of the system then produces an t equal output sound pressure level but at 180 degrees out-of-phase from the noise, to create a destructive sound wave, thus reducing the total low frequency noise heard by the ear inside the cup.
This technology is particularly useful in headphones used in airplane travel and other noisy mobile environments.

USB-PCA

USB-PCA (Universal Serial Bus Personal Computer Audio)
With full duplex stereo input and stereo output, the Andrea Electronics USB digital audio adapter is used with our external headsets, stereo microphones and speakers to transform them into Andrea software compliant devices and for the manipulation of their microphone and speaker signals by our audio software algorithms. The USB digital interface provides high quality analog-to-digital (A/D) input and digital-to-analog (DAC) conversion for digitizing the audio streams in high definition bit rates. The USB audio adapter is a means by which Andrea audio peripherals can provide our high quality digital audio effects and intelligibility improvement through plug-and-play connectivity. Andrea USB audio peripherals can interface to new or legacy computers increasing their audio capability and sound quality. Our AudioCommander software drivers can be easily downloaded to upgrade the users audio experience with a wide range of multimedia applications.

Connectivity Solutions
Andrea is focused on identifying the needs of new audio communication markets and enhancing sound quality and communication intelligibility. Therefore we are constantly looking to develop new connectivity solutions to support our technologies for the many different mobile devices and computer communications applications. Among these, is one of Andrea’s most exciting new devices, the Personal Digital Signal Processor Interface (PDSPI), which allows for a SuperBeam headset to be connected to a Smartphone, game console or desktop telephone. This DSP platform will become an enabling accessory for our audio technologies to be deployed and to enhance a multitude of new multimedia communication devices used in the home, office and mobile environments.
